The title of this document has a double meaning. The information contained within it will help you craft your own content marketing strategy from scratch, but you’re also going to need to create a document of your own; One big idea that you can explore in detail, and share that information with your community.
What is YOUR Big Idea?
Exercise: Think about the story your company wants to tell over the next three months.
- What one idea do you most want to communicate?
- What one problem do you want to solve for your customers, or help them solve for themselves?
- What is the one bit of knowledge you can share that will establish you as an authority in your market?
- Make a list of ideas and test them against these questions, and pick one that best suits to the story you want to tell this quarter. Now you have your big idea.
If you absolutely nail this one idea, you can successfully acquire new leads, customers, users or supporters of your cause.
To build your content marketing strategy around one document, first you need your big idea. A story, if you will. We are going to take that key idea or story, and turn it into a document that your market is going to want. The key to content marketing is in establishing yourself as an expert, an influencer, on one key idea. And it helps if you make that idea compelling, consumable, and engaging.
